Creating our Art Installation

At the start of class we took a quiz on the Paleolithic and Neolithic period.

Then after the quiz was completed we began to brainstorm about creating our own art installation for this class.

First we used our creative process outline sheet to discuss the limitations we had for the project. One limitation was the location; it was located on the left side of the school outside Mrs. Williams’ classroom. We also had a limitation on the time that we could spend, we could only spend 8 classes working on it, but with 29 students I think it is enough time. The next limitation was the materials that were available to us. We were going to be given modern tools from Home Depot, but we could only use materials found around the site. Some of the materials that we could use included tires, dirt and mud, sticks, leaves, branches and flowers, water and bark.

The last part of the class was then spent brainstorming in groups, on an idea of what we wanted our art installation to look like. We were to create thumbnail sketches of our ideas. Then in the next class we are going to finish our brainstorming and then vote on which idea we would want our installation to look like.
