movement and project planning

In class today we started to talk about how different artists used movement in their art pieces. Examples of this can be seen by Andy Goldsworthy and his work with earth art collaborations with nature. An example of art with movement i found interesting was the serpent mound. Things such as weaves, waves and symmetry contribute to "movement" in art.

Along with talking about movement we did planning on our future project. Different groups had different ways to represent the class but we all agreed on how to represent it toward the road. Some ideas on the "unity" side of the project include a circle made from a tire surrounded by rocks, another idea includes orderly rocks, spiral in relief with leaves dug in. Sam had the idea for the tunnel to be 5 to 6 feet high which raised discussion.

We discussed that an arch won't work because its not fresh wood. A triangle will be better even though it would be easier to walk through an arch shape. After talking about that we discussed the 4 ways the class could be represented.

Sam drew a picture of what her group's idea would look like and Nicole came up with an idea to make stairs in the tunnel. Ideas like this make me wonder how realistic this project will be with the limited class time we have as well as limited resources and skilled people. I am very curious to see how this project will go about but I am sure with everyone working together the idea we have a whole can be represented as art for all to see.
