Cave Paintings Revealed! September 13, 2011

After working ever so hard on our contemporary cave paintings last class, they were finally presented in front of our other scholars. I for one found it very interesting to see the different styles in which people presented different ideas, ranging from a comic book style story to simple arrows and even baby feet.

Presented first was a How to Hunt a Bison. Not only did this painting show how to hunt and cook the animal but it came with a story full of love, passion, and revenge.

Second was How to Make Peanut Butter and Jelly. This project gave a very detailed step by step process where the viewer was actually instructed to crush the grapes for jelly and peanuts for peanut butter.

Third was How to Make Breakfast. This painting had many how-to's in one! There was a diagram for making toast, one for cereal, and even one for milking a cow. I was personally impressed that not only did the group show the cow, but there was even a close up shot of the udders.

Fourth we had How to Fly a Moose. This cave painting was presented on the ceiling of our classroom and educated the class of the moose anatomy. Apparently if you pull on the ear of the moose, the antlers begin to spin enabling the animal to take flight.

Fifth we had How to Make Fire (then roast a bird on a stick). This group gave very basic instructions on how to build a fire by spinning a stick and creating enough friction to start a flame followed by the roasting of a succulent bird on a stick.

Finally we had How to Make a Pizza. This group started with the dough and finished with a nice feta cheese pizza cooked by the rays of the sun. This creative group attached dandelions to the painting to give the sun some extra color and detail.
